Welcome to a website that takes a fresh look at exploring the coasts
of Essex and Suffolk by boat. Over the next few months we will be
adding pages of information and photographs about towns and villages
on the East coast rivers from Southend to Southwold and beyond.
Written by yachtsmen with years of experience of sailing into the
rivers and creeks the online guides will include information about
marinas, pubs, breweries, restaurants, shops, interesting walks
and local attractions.
There will be extensive photo galleries, historical notes as well
as lighthearted yarns and seafaring stories both old and new.
We have also added a report about the crane mishap at Felixstowe
(see pictures in the Gallery section)
and pictures of : the legendary East Coast yachtsman and author
Charles Stock and his lovely little Shoal
Waters .
We have also added a page on radio-controlled model
yacht racing , with pictures from two clubs in Essex. More pages will be added when time allows.
We recently had another fact-finding
mission to Bradwell. But on this occasion we made time fo a very
pleasant circular stroll, six miles in all, taking in the inland
village of Bradwell on Sea, the Chapel of St Peter-on-the Wall and
back along the coast path, past the power station to Bradwell Waterside
and into the legendary Green Man public house. Our beer-testers
were torn between the wonderful Woodforde's Wherry and the adorable
Adnams bitter.
