Walton Backwaters

At high tide the Backwaters extend for miles and the shallower sections are probably best explored by dinghy or small cruiser with a lifting keel. To capture the atmosphere of sailing a small boat in the Backwaters read Arthur Ransome's 1939 classic Secret Water. Bigger boats can find good moorings off Stone Point or continue south along Walton Channel and into The Twizzle and on to Titchmarsh Marina (below).
