Latest pictures: There was high drama at Felixstowe docks when a ship broke from its moorings and brought down two 200ft high dockside cranes at Landguard terminal.
The ship, the Zhen Hua 23, carrying five new fully-assembled container cranes, drifted backwards at about 2kts until part of its load struck one dock crane which toppled over bringing down a neighbouring gantry.
The mishap happened in the early hours of March 1 when 60kt winds were recorded in the area.
Later the ship was moved to Trinity terminal where three new cranes for Felixstowe were unloaded. A fourth crane is destined to be delivered to Thamesport in Kent and the fifth, which was damaged in the collision, was due to go to Gothenburg.
The Zhen Hua 23, from Shanghai, was still at Trinty terminal on April 2-3 when these pictures were taken. She is seen being loaded with rubber tyred gantries (RTGs) to be delivered to Thamesport. A mobile crane was being used to hoist or lower parts on one of the cranes at the newer north section of the dock.
