HERE are a few pictures taken on a recent visit (by road) to the wonderful Snape Maltings, home of the famed concert hall in the former malthouse.
Fairly large vessels can reach the quay but they tend to be flat-bottomed or bilge keelers that are able to lay alongside the quay when it dries at low water. We walked to the quay from Iken Cliff, a picnic spot with car park a few miles away to the east. From the top of the sloping car park area there are fine views over the reed-fringed River Alde towards Iken church. The well-kept footpath (mainly of compacted gravel and wooden decking) weaves through the reeds, along the edge of fields and into the grounds of the concert hall.
